Our Tulips Are Blooming - Inside and Out!

In art class Mrs. Bando showed us Georgia O'Keefe's painting of flowers.  She taught us about radial symmetry in drawing "birds eye view" portraits of tulips.  Students used oil pastels and had the help of a partner to complete their over sized portraits.

On Friday we were excited to see one tulip in our garden had fully bloomed and predicted the others will soon.  We have been making observations, measurement and drawings since after Spring vacation.

Our tulip project is in partnership with the Journey North organization.  With our growing  tulips we can track the coming of Spring over the Northern Hemisphere.  You can see our shared observations by following the Journey North link on this blog.  Click on Tulips and the map.  Use the info button to find us.
