Felting Residency Fun!

Everyone enjoyed making fabric art with the Art Resident Janet Cathey.  First we all made a section of the whole school mural showing a winter scene.  Then each child made their own small mural.  They made summer scenes, dinosaurs, dragons, geometric designs and even the dirt found on a barn floor! The funds for this residency came from a fall art fundraiser.

Exploring Equivalent Measures

Using yard sticks, meter sticks, rulers and centimeter and inch cubes we determine equivalent measurements.  We made many important discoveries!

Comparing inch cubes and centimeter cubes- It takes 100 centimeters cubes to cover a meter stick!
1. 36 inch cubes covered one yard.

2. About 40 inch cubes equals one yard.

Mountain School Sugarhouse and Native American Legends

A big thank you to The Mountain School who let us visit their sugar house each year.  Maggie Stoudnour, our Rivendell trails coordinator, for arranging this trip for us.
After the trip we found legends that told us how Native Americans gave us the gift of maple syrup.  We presented these legends at today's Community Meeting.  Nice job second grade!
