Arctic Explorers and Winter Carnival

Mapping the Arctic
Rebecca Haynes, one of the science educators from the Montshire Museum, came to our classroom with globes, maps, and NASA apps to help us explore the changing geography of the Arctic.  We  made a tabletop model of a polar ocean complete with sea ice and icebergs.   This was a fun introduction to polar geography and gave us a chance to take the first step to understanding the effects of climate change.

Exploring the Arctic Ocean and Antarctica on globes and maps.

Viewing NASA videos of the changing ice cap.

Observing a Polar ocean with sea ice and an iceberg!

We had a beautiful day for Winter Carnival fun!

Enjoy your winter break. It looks like the beautiful weather will continue this week, so get outside and enjoy!  Please remember to participate in our Winter Vacation Reading Challenge.
