Investigating Liquids

Properties of Matter  We will be exploring the characteristics of solids, liquids and gas in this Physical Science unit.

Student scientist used observational skills to determine how different liquids flow through a variety of containers.
                                                        Winter Program
After a great time sledding, first, second and third grade students enjoyed these activities: building with Legos, playing checkers and making snow flakes.  It was fun to have mixed grades playing together.

                                                                  Connect ED log in
We learned how to log into our Everyday Math's interactive games and toolboxes.  Each child brought home cards with their password.  Playing games is a great way to practice computational skills.  We are presently working on coin combinations and making change.  Practice activities with money and telling time would be encouraged. Please use the link on this web page.

Grinding Corn for Indian Pudding - Yumm!

First we had to remove kernels from the cob, not an easy task!

Then we used a grinder to grind the kernels.  Quite a workout!

It took three grindings to get the cornmeal the right consistency.
We followed a Vermont Abenaki traditional and contemporary recipe.

We also had popcorn as our pudding cooked. Thank you Mrs. Bando for helping us with this project!

Holiday Publishing Co. and Reading Buddies

Your children worked extremely hard on publishing stories for a family gift. They wrote first drafts, edited and worked on final copies.

Illustrating and binding our books was the final step.                           We all were proud of our completed books

Before Christmas break second grade students enjoyed reading to their first grade reading buddies.
